In seeking another term on the College of DuPage board of trustees, Heidi Holan said she would continue to push for policies that benefit students and the community.
Holan, 56, and others are vying for three six-year terms on the college board. The election takes place April 6.
"As a trustee, I have and will continue to serve the community and promote student success by upholding the Mission of the College which is 'To be a center for excellence in teaching, learning, and cultural experience by providing accessible, affordable and comprehensive education,'" Holan told the DuPage Policy Journal.

Holan said she is proud of the stability and fiscal responsibility she has helped bring to the board since being appointed three-years ago to fill out the remainder of now state Rep. Deanne Mazzochi's (R-Westmont) term.
"I serve as chairman of the Academic Committee and as a representative to the Illinois Community College Trustee Association where I have been able to participate with trustees from around the state in discussions on best practices, informative and relevant workshops, government relations and public policy," she said. "I have taken seriously the fiduciary responsibility a trustee owes all stakeholders both in the stewardship of finances and quality of education."
Holan understands just how critical the College of DuPage has become in the lives of many area residents.
"All four of us — me, my husband and our two sons — have been students at the College of DuPage, each of us possesses an associate degree, three of them from the College of DuPage," she said. "We sought and received [an] affordable and high-quality education, experienced the unique role of a student worker and launched careers as a direct result of a local business reaching out to the college seeking employees."
