State Rep. Deanne Mazzochi (R-47th) called the Democrats a ‘Party of No.’

Mazzochi explained the reforms that the Republicans proposed on Wednesday but each one was rejected by the Democrats.

Democrats refused to guarantee that bills should come out of a committee and be debated and voted on.

“And again, the Democrats said no,” Mazzochi said on her video that was released after she voted against the new House Rules. “Why? Because they like the power of the speaker to be able to suppress bills, that even bipartisan bills that people want because they want the control over the chamber. It leads to more power, more money, and unfortunately more corruption.”

Mazzochi firmly believes that the Democrats would want to abuse and take control of Illinois by silencing the people.

“So, the majority party today was the party of ‘no’. They had a historic opportunity to sweep aside the Madigan rules that have led to nothing but corruption in the state of Illinois and start a new day and actually get Illinois back on track. And unfortunately, they broke their very first promise. They voted for the same types of rules that are going to lead to the same problems we’ve seen. And they’ve cut the voices of the people out.”
