Bensenville School District 2 issued the following announcement on Nov. 1.
Dear BSD2 Community,
Two staff members have recently been diagnosed with COVID-19. Neither one was present in the District at a time when they could have given the virus to anyone else.
Both of them will remain away from the District until meeting requirements set by the state and county health departments. One of these staff members works at W.A. Johnson School. The other works at the District’s Educational Administration Center.
These are the eighth and ninth positive staff cases in the District since school resumed in August. No students have been quarantined because of COVID exposure that occurred in the District. No student cases have been diagnosed except among students who were not in the schools at a time they could have given the virus to anyone else.
Are there more cases lately?
Yes, COVID-19 cases have risen sharply this month. Cases per day doubled in DuPage County in just 14 days in early October. Surrounding counties have seen similar increases.
Please, let’s all take the precautions that will slow down the spread! Wear your mask indoors, always. Keep social distance of 6 feet or further.
Here’s the hardest but most maybe the most timely precaution: limit social gatherings until the spread slows down. Small gatherings, the kind we can control, are believed to be a major contributor to this month’s increase.
What else should you do?
You have no restrictions when in the District. Contact tracing under State guidelines determined you were not a close contact in this situation. You may still attend school or work in the District. You do not need to quarantine.
If you develop symptoms[1], stay home. Contact your health care provider to determine if testing is needed. If your symptoms become severe[2], seek medical care immediately.
Following these COVID prevention policies will help us maintain the safest possible school environment for all students and staff.
