Illinois State House District 47 issued the following announcement on Oct. 14.

For her tireless advocacy on behalf of Illinois farmers, manufacturers, and small business owners, State Representative Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) has been recently honored by two statewide associations.

On behalf of the Illinois Farm Bureau, today Rep. Mazzochi was given a “Friend of Agriculture” award at the Elmhurst Farmer’s Market. The award was presented by DuPage County Farm Bureau Director Kara Norton.

“Illinois farmers and the agricultural products we produce make up an overwhelming portion of the state’s land and economy,” Rep. Mazzochi said “As a legislator I recognize their important contributions to the state economy and am committed to supporting all small business owners in Illinois, especially our farmers.”

In addition to her award from the Illinois Farm Bureau, Rep. Mazzochi was recently recognized by the Illinois Manufacturer’s Association (IMA). Every year the IMA compiles a legislative report card in which they analyze votes in the General assembly and “showcase the lawmakers supportive of Illinois’ manufacturing economy and those that vote against job creators.” Representative Mazzochi has reiterated the importance of a healthy manufacturing sector to middle class jobs, and “particularly in light of COVID-19, we have seen the need to have manufacturing occur here in the U.S. and Illinois so that our residents are not denied access to essential medical and other supplies.” Recently for National Manufacturing Day, Rep. Mazzochi hosted a ‘Made in Illinois’ Roundtable with state and local manufacturing representatives to discuss the impact Illinois’ manufacturers have on the state economy, the challenges manufacturers are facing, and the resources available for those looking for a career in manufacturing. Video of the webinar is available at RepMazzochi.com.

“Manufacturing is a vital piece of Illinois’ economic engine and wherever possible we need to foster, not hamper, its growth,” Rep. Mazzochi continued. “Illinois won’t be fiscally sound until we in Springfield embrace and encourage Illinois’ potential as an agricultural and manufacturing leader.”

When the early outset of the pandemic laid bare American manufacturing holes, especially when it came to essential supplies and personal protection equipment, Rep. Mazzochi filed legislation, House Bill 5788, to entice critical manufacturing back from overseas and to Illinois.
