Carol STream FPD responds to 115 fires in 2018

Carol Stream Fire Protection District responded to 648 calls in 2018 - 3.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Carolream included 115 fires - 51 structure fires, 15 vehicle fires and 49 other fires. The fire department also responded to four calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $100,000 in fire loss - or about $870 per fire.

The department also received 529 false calls, including 17 malicious calls and 512 other false calls.

The calls resulted in six civilian fire-related injuries and one civilian fire-related death.
