ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 56: Free Implicit Bias Training

56

Illinois State House District 56 issued the following announcement on July 30

This League of Women Voters chapter is excited to announce Anger To Action: Implicit Bias Training-- Moving from the narrative to the mechanism, scheduled for Thursday, August 6, 2020, from 7 to 8:30 pm featuring Dr. Destiny Peery as facilitator. A program of this caliber generally costs at least $50 per participant. They are only able to offer this program at no cost due to the generous support of Community Consolidated School District 21. Further, support from The Buffalo Grove Community Foundation and several private donors means we will also be offering this program interpreted to American Sign Language and are exploring the possibility of having the program translated to Spanish, Polish, and Russian.

PRE-REGISTRATION FOR THIS PROGRAM IS REQUIRED. Please follow this link to register and commit to attending.

Dr. Peery is an independent Diversity and Research Consultant and a former law professor at Duke University and Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. She obtained her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Minnesota, an M.A. and PhD in Social Psychology from Northwestern University, as well as her J.D. from Northwestern Prtizker School of Law. She is an experienced researcher and a pragmatic thinker on issues of diversity, inclusion, and the intersection of race, social science, and law and policy. She has over 15 years of experience in conducting social science research, writing, teaching, and speaking publicly on diversity and inclusion-related issues and participating in/leading diversity and inclusion efforts, including conducting, writing, and speaking about research on stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination.
