Illinois State House District 45 issued the following announcement on July 2.
State Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, is promoting the expansion of essential services that are now available through the Help Illinois Families initiative to support working families impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak.
“This unprecedented health crisis has caused a lot of financial hardship, and many working families are struggling to make ends meet,” said Pappas. “The expansion of these essential services will help ensure families can access the resources they need during these uncertain times.”
To support working families impacted by the outbreak, Pappas is promoting the Help Illinois Families initiative following the expansion of services provided through the state’s Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program. Eligible Illinois residents and families can apply to receive assistance with food, rent, utilities, temporary shelter, medicine and other essential household services.
“Although these services are a critical step forward, there is no question that more work remains to be done to provide working families with the resources they truly deserve,” Pappas said. “Regardless of the circumstances, every Illinois family deserves empathy and support.”
