In a recent interview, Democrat Congressman Sean Casten (IL-06) said the “bravest” legislation Congress has ever passed is H.R. 1, a bill that would give $5 million in public funds to political campaigns of candidates like him and his colleagues who already have substantial campaign war-chests.
“Right, Sean Casten is a real profile in courage,” said Jeanne Ives, a candidate for Congress (IL-06). “At a time when we have $26,000,000,000,000 in national debt, our small businesses and social service providers are struggling and millions are unemployed, he votes to fund political campaigns.
“It’s outrageous, Congressman Casten voted to give himself and his colleagues up to $5 million in taxpayer money so they can inundate you with negative political ads, fill your mailbox with glossy advertisements and cover their meals and mileage.
“Rather than challenging the status quo, Congressman Casten is voting to protect it, at your expense. Please forgive me if I don’t swoon.”
