Jeanne Ives is Good for Business

Issued the following announcement on June 9.

NFIB announced that its national political action committee has endorsed Jeanne Ives for Congress in Illinois’ 6th District.

“Jeanne Ives is a proven champion for Illinois small businesses,” said Mark Grant, NFIB’s Illinois State Director. “Her voting record demonstrates a solid commitment to policies that help small businesses in our state. Furthermore, she brings a strong understanding of the issues and challenges that our members care about, including making tax relief permanent and healthcare affordable, flexible, and reliable. We are confident that Ives will remain a staunch supporter for Illinois small businesses in the U.S. House of Representatives. It is my honor to announce today NFIB’s endorsement of Jeanne Ives on behalf of small businesses in Illinois’ Sixth Congressional District.”

“Small business owners need strong advocates like Jeanne Ives in Congress now more than ever,” said NFIB National Political Director Sharon Sussin. “We are proud to endorse Ives today and we know that she will continue to stand up for small businesses in Illinois and across the country.”

“As we begin to rebuild our economy, private industry, small and independent businesses  will play a crucial role,” said Ives. “Prior to March 2020, small businesses employed over 2.5 million people in Illinois alone. I am grateful for the confidence the business community has in my ability to lead in uncertain times, and am honored to receive their endorsement.”

NFIB is the leading small-business association in the nation, with members representing a wide diversity of employers and industries. As a state legislator, Ives received a perfect legislative score in her third term from NFIB-Illinois for her record related to business interests, including taxes, health care, labor, economic development and regulatory issues, in the state.

The endorsement from NFIB is additionally notable given Ives’ opponent, incumbent Congressman Sean Casten was the heir to his family’s business, and branded himself a moderate, pro-business Democrat in his 2018 campaign. As a Congressman, Casten has sought subsidies for special interests, as well as voted for unbalanced budgets, tax hikes and bailouts, all of which work against small business success and formation.
