Steven Muehlfelt, owner of Cooper's Corner in Winfield and Sindy Rogers from Manhattan's American Bar and Grill in Carol Stream both outlined how difficult it has been to be closed, and requested that Illinois open for business.
4. CHAIRMAN'S REMARKS - CHAIR LARSEN
A. COVID Capital Project Update
Without objection from the committee, the capital project update was presented earlier on the agenda.
Nick Kottmeyer, Chief Administrative Officer, outlined eight capital projects that have COVID related benefits. They include HVAC projects for the Coroner's office, Jail "B", Judicial Office Facility (JOF) and the Care Center. Jail "A" would have improvements to the medical isolation spaces, holding cells, and air disinfection. The field court in Addison will be closed due to COVID concerns and another project is to build a new traffic court in the JOF building. Also included is a remote monitoring (SCADA) system for Public Works and Stormwater. It is proposed that Transportation, Building & Zoning, Stormwater Management, Public Works and the Health Department will receive an upgrade for on-line permitting software. These projects will need to be completed by the end of the year. The committee discussed various aspects of the proposed projects.

Member Hart was interested if the intern program is still in place. Nick Kottmeyer noted if the board was comfortable, he would like to bring the entire list of interns to the board members on the next County Board meeting. There was no objection. Member Ozog brought up the topic of teenagers not having much work available to them this year. She was hoping to connect teens who need work with seniors who need work done. Ms. Ozog also noted that she liked having the Finance committee streamed on the website and hoped it continued.
