Republican Congressional candidate Jeanne Ives says Gov. J.B. Pritzker is setting new standards for hypocrisy with his handling of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

“You thought democrats were hypocrites before, but the governor has taken things to a whole new level,” Ives, now running against incumbent Rep. Sean Casten (D-Downers Grove) in the 6th Congressional District, told the DuPage Policy Journal. “It was just 10 days ago that he was warning people of the dangers of crossing the state border to work because of the virus. Now, he’s defending having workers come over to work on his property. He’s just a hypocrite through and through.”

Fox News recently reported a crew of construction workers were seen crossing over from Illinois to work on the governor’s Wisconsin-based, multi-million dollar farm.

“Illinois, you elected a man who has zero integrity and has never heard the words ‘lead by example,’” the Wheaton resident said in a post to Facebook. “I am sorry, but the governor is acting like a spoiled brat. The rules never applied to him as a kid obviously, and he got away with everything. No one in Illinois should take him seriously. And no one should believe anything that comes out of his mouth.”

Ives said there’s now just one thing the governor can do.

“He needs to open up the entire state economy right now and let people figure out how to safely get on with their lives the same way he’s doing with his own family,” she said. “The governor has been a big hypocrite from the start; someone who has no idea what’s going on. His whole focus is letting his family do whatever they want while shutting down everyone else.”
