ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 45: Pappas Highlights the Importance of Social Distancing as Start Parks Reopen during COVID-19

Coronavirus update920

Illinois State House District 45 issued the following announcement on May 7.

State Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, is emphasizing the importance of social distancing as Illinois state parks begin to reopen during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

“Although the desire for outdoor recreation is valid, we must work together to ensure we don’t undo all the hard work that has gone into flattening the curve,” said Pappas. “I strongly encourage local residents to continue to adhere to the limits and social distancing guidelines set by medical experts.”

Starting May 1, some nearby state parks, recreation areas, fish and wildlife areas and trails will reopen. While this will allow residents to engage in outdoor activities, Pappas reminds residents that limits on number of participants and social distancing requirements are still necessary for permitted outdoor recreational activities. “Please review critical information on how to stay safe while enjoying the great outdoors,” Pappas said. “As we continue to fight this outbreak, we must remain committed to protecting our community’s public health.”
