Ives Response to Casten Endorsing Biden For President

Issued the following announcement on March 9.

Late Friday, Rep. Sean Casten (IL-06)  announced that he would be the next Democrat to fall in line with his party’s establishment and endorse Joe Biden for President.

In 2018, Sean Casten campaigned as an independent, political outsider. But Casten fell in line with his party bosses quickly upon arriving in Washington DC. Over the past year, he has voted with 100% of the time with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. He has also refused to use his platform to stand up to the rampant corruption in his own state party.

Equally concerning, is that Joe Biden has used his position and power in government to score lucrative deals for members of his own family - including a position on the board of a Ukrainian gas company for his son Hunter Biden, his brother James got a $1.5 billion construction contract to build homes in Iraq - which involved working with state departments and others - while Biden was Vice President, Frank Biden headed up renewable energy projects in Costa Rica and Jamaica funded with U.S. taxpayer dollars, and Biden’s son-in-law Howard Krein’s company StartUp Health was featured at conferences run by the Health and Human Services Department - and to this day features Biden as a prominent speaker.

In endorsing “Quid Pro Joe” Biden, Casten reminds us that, while he likes to claim he is “just a science nerd,” he conveniently leaves out that he was also a registered federal lobbyist who pleaded with congressional leaders for special tax breaks to benefit his own family’s business. He votes to raise taxes on 6th District residents after working to line his family’s pockets with taxpayer money through crony tax breaks.

"Biden and Casten both protect and grow party power for personal benefit,” said Jeanne Ives, candidate for Congress (IL-06). “Both walk in lock step with the Democrat establishment and both see their positions in government as mechanisms to benefit their families and political allies of convenience. The people of Illinois’ 6th district - and, frankly, the nation - deserve far better. As a state legislator, I stood up to powerful political families and politicians, and worked to expose the scams being run on taxpayers. I will do the same in Congress.”
