Illinois State House District 56 issued the following announcement on Jan. 29
State Rep. Michelle Mussman, D-Schaumburg, released the following statement after Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s State of the State address today:
“Democrats and Republicans were able to come together last year to make important progress in moving Illinois forward. We worked to pass a balanced, bipartisan budget to pay down the state’s backlog of unpaid bills and invest our limited resources into programs that our families care about, like breast and cervical cancer screenings, Meals on Wheels and MAP Grants. We took steps toward implementing a Fair Tax plan that would require the ultra-wealthy to pay their fair share while relieving the enormous tax burden that falls on middle-class families and created a Property Tax Relief Fund that will provide annual rebates to homeowners.
“I am committed to moving our state in the right direction by fighting for real property tax relief for local homeowners, expanding access to affordable health care, investing in job training programs to help students learn technical skills and supporting business owners to grow our economy.
“There is still much more work to be done to get our state back on track and on firmer financial footing. I will continue working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to build a stronger Illinois that puts middle-class families first.”
Mussman represents the 56th District, which contains portions of Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Roselle, Rolling Meadows and Palatine.
