Residents of the 47th House District are being encouraged to take advantage of a free Health Insurance and Wellness Fair being hosted by state Rep. Deanne Mazzochi (R-Elmhurst) on Nov. 16.
The three-hour event will be held at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office of Westmont, beginning at 9 a.m.
“I am committed to helping expand health insurance coverage to all my constituents,” Mazzochi said in a press release. “Every Illinoisan deserves to have access to all the options the state and private insurers make available. The Health Insurance and Wellness Fair purposely coincides with the open enrollment period to make sure as many needy residents can sign up as possible.”
Experts will be on hand to address the concerns of every attendee, and staffers from the Illinois Department of Insurance, Get Covered Illinois and other agencies will explain health insurance options such as Medicaid and any other private health care plans. The open enrollment period for health care commenced on Nov. 1 and runs through Dec. 15.
Local hospitals and health care organizations from across the state are now offering helpful guides, free brochures and information on the services they offer.
Still in her first term in Springfield, Mazzochi has a professional health care background that includes her recent appointment to the Illinois Childhood Cancer Board where she will work with other medical experts in making recommendations for pediatric cancer research grants provided by the state.
Mazzochi currently sits on the House’s Health & Health Care and Mental Health committees. Her 47th House District includes all or parts of Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Western Springs, Clarendon Hills, Hinsdale, Westmont and Downers Grove.
