Bensenville School District 2 Board of Education met Oct. 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Paul Wedemann called the Special Joint Committee Meeting consisting of Fenton Community High School District 100, Bensenville School District 2 and Wood Dale School District 7 Board of Education to order at 6:00 pm. Roll call of those in attendance took place.

Paul Novack, CFO-BSD2, Tim Waldorf CRC – BSD2, Cindy Snyder Admin Asst. – BSD2 All present recited the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Ontengco and Fenton Board President Wedemann welcomed all in attendance and introduced the board members present.

Mr. Ontengco then introduced Dr. Joe Porto and Dr. Steve Griesbach who in turn thanked the three superintendents for inviting them to lead the “Portrait of a Graduate” workshop.

After table introductions were completed with the group, Dr. Porto and Dr. Griesbach shared the process overview of the three workshop sessions that are planned for October 1st, October 22nd, and November 4th. (What, want, how, & sub-committee - gallery walk of examples)

The meeting proceeded with:

● Each team member received a folder containing the results from the Thought Exchange groups (Educator/Staff, Parent, Community, Students) along with the synthesis of the results.

● A gallery tour of posters consisting of school districts who have already completed this project were critiqued by each team regarding art design, clarity, etc.

● Discussion followed regarding the topics that each Thought Exchange group mentioned while sharing what a “Portrait of a Graduate’ means to them.

● Each team created their version of a “Portrait of a Graduate” using the values they feel passionate about while also visualizing it with artwork.

The three Superintendents will meet and come up with a sub-committee consisting of 1 Superintendent, 1 teacher, 1 administrator, 1 community member/parent, 1 staff member and 1 student to develop one or two drafts of the “Portrait of a Graduate” to bring back to the full committee.

The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 6:00 p.m. at Fenton High School in the ARC.

Meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
