Issued the following announcement on Sept. 11.

This morning, Jeanne Ives, a Republican Candidate for Congress (IL-6), shared the following statement remembering the September 11 attacks: 

Today we remember with heavy hearts the families that sent their loved ones to work in the morning, never to see them again. 

We recall with pride and gratitude the selfless first responders who ran into burning and crumbling buildings to help in anyway they could.

And we remember the long days that followed. 

You may watch documentaries or news footage or take to quiet reflections. 

However we chose to remember, no one will ever forget the historic tragedy of 9/11 - or the heroism it brought out in Americans. We saw the very best of the human spirit rise to the surface across the nation.

We must remember that too: For one moment - through our blood, sweat and tears - we rose above our differences. For one moment, we were united as Americans.
