Surgeon Kinzler blasts Democrats after indictment of Cullerton

Transplant surgeon Dr. Gordon “Jay” Kinzler lashed out against Illinois Democrats following the indictment of Sen. Thomas Cullerton (D-Villa Park) on embezzlement charges Friday morning.

“This is just par for the course for Illinois,” Kinzler said to DuPage Policy Journal. “There’s so much corruption and they put so much money into their campaigns.”

According to a news release, Cullerton is charged with “one count of conspiracy to embezzle from a labor union and employee benefit plans, 39 counts of embezzlement from a labor union, and one count of making false statements in a health care matter.” It was also reported in The Chicago Tribune that Cullerton pocketed nearly $275,000 in salary and benefits during his time as a member of Teamsters Local Union 734 before his tenure as senator in November 2012. Cullerton was reported to have done “little or no work” with the amount of funds bestowed to him.

The news release also mentioned that Cullerton used those funds for personal spending such as his mortgage and groceries.

Cullerton will later be arraigned in Chicago federal court, but Kinzler has already made his own prediction as will follow next.

“I think what’s going to happen next is Cullerton is going to flip, they’re going to get him indicted and he’ll plea a lesser charge for less time in prison,” Kinzler said. “What’s going to happen is he’ll start singing about some of these other … representatives in the Democrat Party and they’re all going to end up in jail.”

If convicted, Cullerton could be sentenced for up to five years in prison.

The corruption does not stop here, according to Kinzler.

“This is just one little area that they caught him on, I’m sure [the Democrats] do it all the time,” Kinzler said. “That’s how they get the money to spend on these campaigns. It’s terrible.”

Kinzler has been battling Democrats since his run for the state House of Representatives in District 46, which he lost in November 2018.

Cullerton serves the the 23rd Senate District, which includes Addison, Bloomingdale, Bartlett, Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Hanover Park, Itasca, Roselle, Villa Park, West Chicago, Wayne and Wood Dale.
