U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Illinois) and U.S. House Rep. Sean Casten (D-Downers Grove) were recently feted to a fundraiser where sponsorships were as high as $2,500 at the Hinsdale home of longtime party fundraiser and RunDocRun chairman Dr. Ramsey Ellis.
According to ActBlue.com, the event was held on July 13, where tickets were priced $250 and house committee sponsorships were $1,000. Now serving in his 22nd year on the senate, Durbin’s term ends in 2021, when Casten will again be on the ballot.
Ellis’ reputation as one of the biggest Democratic boosters across Illinois continues to build. According to VerifiedPolitics.com, she first became involved with “Physician Women for Democratic Principles” (PWDP) through a Facebook group back in 2016. Illinois Sunshine reports that over the last several months she has made political contributions to the campaigns of Illinois State’s Attorney Kim Foxx and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot.

Back in 2016, Ellis also made at least seven contributions to the presidential campaign of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
“We didn’t want to just sit around being upset,” Ellis told VerifiedPolitics. “We took our sisterhood and bred positive action.”
Ellis also served as the finance chief for Marie Newman in her unsuccessful 2018 Democratic primary challenge to U.S. House Rep. Dan Lipinski in the 3rd Congressional District.
