Illinois State House District 45 issued the following announcement on June 13.
State Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, was hosting her first Senior Citizen Advisory Panel Monday, June 17, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Bloomingdale Public Library located at 101 Fairfield Way.
“Our senior community faces a wide range of different issues, and the best way for me to represent this community in Springfield is to receive direct feedback from seniors themselves,” said Pappas. “Whether there are concerns about consumer protection or healthcare, I would like to work to identify core issues with the help of the community to work towards creative legislative solutions.”
Pappas’ advisory panel will allow for constituents to explain their day-to-day experiences whether they reside within a senior living center or an independent home. Administrators and staff who work in senior organizations are encouraged to attend and share successes and complications they have dealt with, and ideas for strengthening services for the senior community.
“Giving the senior community a strong voice is important to me, and the launch of this advisory panel along with other events I am hosting, such as the Citizens Utility Board Clinic at the Bloomingdale Horizon Independent Senior Living Community Center towards the end of this month, can hopefully provide more resources and interactive opportunities,” said Pappas.
