City of West Chicago issued the following announcement on April 17.
Volunteers are needed to help with a cleanup of the Great Western Trails and the Illinois Prairie Path on Saturday, April 27, 2019 starting at 9:00 a.m. This is a rain or shine activity.
The Friends of the Great Western Trails, in cooperation with the Illinois Prairie Path not-for-profit corporation, has coordinated the event in observance of Earth Day 2019. The goal this year is to clean all the trails, including both sections of the Great Western Trail and all of the Illinois Prairie Path.
Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves and garbage bags, along with friends and family, to pick up litter along the trails. Although the trails are cleaned year round by volunteers, work is still needed and this is an opportunity for people to contribute to the natural treasure these trails represent in our community.
