BENSENVILLE SCHOOL DISTRICT 2: EARTH DAY: Join the BMS Eighth-Grade Hawks for Bensenville’s community-wide celebration on April 27

Bensenville School District 2 recently issued the following announcement.

To celebrate Earth Day, the Village of Bensenville, Bensenville Community Public Library, Bensenville Park District, Bensenville School District 2, and Fenton High School are partnering to sponsor a variety of events around the community on Saturday, April 27.

Neighborhood Beautification: 9-11:30 a.m.; free T-shirt and lunch

Join us to celebrate Mother Earth at our second annual village-wide cleanup! Give back to your community while helping beautify our local parks and spaces.

You can represent Bensenville School District 2 by joining the BMS Eighth Grade Hawks in participating in a “trash scavenger hunt” and clothes drive at Blackhawk Middle School.

Or you can participate in a variety of other events around the community. The morning will end with a tree planting ceremony and free lunch for all volunteers at Fischer Farm. 

Work Site locations include:

  • Varble Woods/DGLC
  • Fischer Farm
  • Korthauer Log House
  • Hyatt-Hubbard Site (Transportation will be provided from DGLC)
  • Blackhawk Middle School
  • Fenton High School 
Registration for all locations are being taken at the Deer Grove Leisure Center through April 26. At registration, please supply size(s) for your complimentary volunteer T-shirt. 

Recycling Event: 9-11 a.m. at Deer Grove Leisure Center, 1000 W. Wood Street

Drop off your old or used electronics at the Deer Grove Leisure Center where these items will be collected for recycling. Visit bensenvilleparkdistrict.org for a list of acceptable electronic items to recycle. Items accepted:

computers, laptops, servers, computer monitors, printers, facsimile, scanners, vcr, dvd players, video game consoles, cable boxes, converter boxes, satellite receivers, electronic keyboards, mice, portable music players, holiday string lights, wire, cable, adapters, power supplies, cell phones, modems, tablets, phones, docking station

Tree Planting Ceremony: 1:30 p.m. at Fischer Farm, 16W680 Grand Avenue

Pizza for all volunteers at Fischer Farm, registration required.
