Phil Suess wins Wheaton's mayoral race

City Councilman Phil Suess defeated fellow council member John Prendiville to become Wheaton's new mayor.

Suess took 52.76 percent of the vote (3,617) to Prendiville's 47.24 percent (3,239), according to the Dupage County Election Commission.

Suess, a partner at a global investment consulting firm, was in his fourth term on the city council. Prendiville, who will leave the council after serving three terms, had previously run for the mayor's seat in 2011.

Current Mayor Michael Gresk did not seek re-election.
