Sal Falbo says he is not about to let any of the confusion affect him when he goes to the polls on Tuesday.

“I’m voting for Annette Corrigan and Marc Incrocci for the College of DuPage (COD) Board of Trustees,” Falbo, a longtime local Republican activist and small-business owner, told DuPage Policy Journal of the April 2 elections. “And I’m opposed to Maureen Dunne, whoever she might be.”

Questions about 'whoever' Dunne is and what her brand of politics might be have persisted throughout a campaign in which she has openly cozied up to Republicans while also landing numerous endorsements from some of the most liberal groups around, including the Democratic Party of Milton Township, which has also endorsed ultra-liberal candidate Dan Bailey.

Around the COD campus, transparency and trustworthiness are most sought-after qualities among leaders after former president Robert Breuder was fired in 2015 when an internal investigation found he had "participated in, oversaw or failed to prevent numerous episodes of misconduct and mismanagement."

What’s publicly known about Dunne is that the 43-year-old co-founder and CEO of a company that advises startup businesses has not voted in a local election in more than a decade, according to State Board of Elections records. The COD grad and Rhodes Scholar at the University of Oxford cast her vote in favor of a democratic candidate back in 2008.

“The college needs people that the students can trust and leaders who have the concerns of the people at heart,” Falbo added. “It’s true she could be hiding something and maybe she isn’t, but the people I’m voting for, I know what they stand for because they have a history of showing us and a platform that they stand on.”
