ILLINOIS 45TH STATE HOUSE DISTRICT: Pappas Announces House Committee Assignments

Meeting240

Illinois' 45th State House District issued the following announcement on Feb. 15.

State Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, announced her committee assignments for the 2019-20 legislative session, focusing on good government, health care, state budgeting and protecting children.

“As we begin our work for the 101st General Assembly, I’m excited to serve on a variety of committees that will take up important issues impacting vulnerable children, government reform, health care accessibility and the state budget,” Pappas said. “I hope to use the committee process to learn the in-depth details about issues impacting our state and be a part of negotiations to create meaningful legislation.”

Pappas was assigned to serve on the following House Committees: Adoption & Child Welfare; Appropriations – General Services; Cities & Villages; Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, & IT; and Prescription Drug Affordability. As a first step in the legislative process, bills are assigned to committees before they are sent to the full House for consideration.

“The committee process allows all stakeholders to come together to discuss their ideas, work together and negotiate potential new laws,” Pappas said. “On each of these committees, I will use my own experiences and perspectives to contribute to the process and advocate for the issues that will have a positive impact on our communities.”

Pappas encourages local residents to contact her constituent service office with questions or concerns about pending legislation in Springfield by calling 224-520-8838 or emailing repdpappas@gmail.com.
