Hinsdale Community Consolidated School District 181 issued the following announcement on Jan. 4.
Community Consolidated School District 181 and Hinsdale Township High School District 86 announce that registration is now open for the second of three 2018-19 Community Speaker Series events, "Untangled: Guiding Girls Through Seven Transitions into Adulthood" featuring Dr. Lisa Damour.
Dr. Damour draws on decades of experience and the latest research to reveal the seven distinct – and absolutely normal – developmental transitions that turn girls into grown-ups. Providing realistic scenarios and welcome advice on how to engage daughters in smart, constructive ways, the presentation will provide parents with a broad framework for understanding their daughters while addressing their most common questions.
This 90-minute program is free and open to all but registration is required. To register, visit www.d181foundation.org and click the registration link on the homepage.
Registrants have two opportunities to attend Dr. Damour's presentation:
- 7:00-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, Hinsdale Central Auditorium
- 9:30-11:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, Hinsdale South Auditorium
The series is presented by District 181 and District 86 in conjunction with the D181 Foundation and The Community House and was designed to inform and inspire families about issues in education and parenting.
About the Presenter
Dr. Lisa Damour writes the monthly Adolescence column for the New York Times, serves as a regular contributor to CBS News, maintains a private psychotherapy practice, and consults and speaks internationally. Dr. Damour graduated with honors from Yale University and worked for the Yale Child Study Center before earning her doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Michigan. She and her husband are the proud parents of two daughters.
