The new budget proposed by Village of Downers Grove calls for $48.2 million in general fund expenditures in fiscal year 2019, which is 1.8 percent more than what this year’s budget provides.
Officials have until Dec. 31 to approve a budget.
The village proposes spending $6,981,356 on police and firefighter pensions, which is 14.5 percent of the total budget. The pension amount reflects taxpayer contributions to current police and fire employees.
A total of $16,930,375, or 35 percent of general fund expenditures, would go to police protection, while fire services represent 36.5 percent of the general fund budget, or $17,589,909.
The budget proposal mentioned no tax or fee changes.
