The new budget proposed by Village of Bensenville calls for $53,958,811 in expenditures in fiscal year 2019, which is 6.7 percent less than what this year’s budget provides.
Officials have until Dec. 31 to approve a budget.
The village proposes spending $784,000 on municipal worker pensions, which is 1.3 percent of the total budget. The pension amount reflects taxpayer contributions to current police and fire employees, as well as other municipal employees.
A total of $7,427,914, or 14 percent of total village expenditures, would go to police protection. Contributions to the Illinois Municipal Retirement fund total $255,000, or 0.5 percent.
The budget proposal mentioned the following tax or fee changes: a 1.99 percent increase in the property tax rate
