CITY OF WEST CHICAGO: Position Announcement – Public Works Crew Leader

City of West Chicago issued the following announcement on Nov. 30.

The City is seeking a person with demonstrated skills in the operation and maintenance of municipal water and sewer infrastructure. This position serves as the lead over a crew of maintenance workers and assists with operations related to Public Works. The successful candidate will provide oversight of the day-to-day operations of assigned personnel; instruct employees in methods of work and safety; and must maintain a safe work environment. This position performs a wide variety of skilled tasks in construction, maintenance & service activities related to water distribution systems, including metering systems, wells, water storage tanks, and booster stations; sanitary sewer collection systems and pumping stations; utility locating, streets, grounds, snow removal operations, & facility management. Duties include receiving work orders and allocating work to the appropriate staff and instructing staff on technical aspects of work. Ability to assist with snow removal operations is required; heavy equipment snow removal experience preferred. Candidates must be 18 years of age, high school graduate or equivalent, and have excellent customer service skills. Starting Salary is $59,868. Possession of a Valid Class B CDL Driver’s License is required with a Tanker Endorsement and without an Air Brakes Restriction. Two years of increasingly responsible experience in a lead maintenance position is required. Applications are required, and available below:
