Over 29 years of retirement, Schmidt would collect as much as $2.048 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes DuPage Policy Journal.
Schmidt, 66, who currently lives in Plainfield earned $60,592 in his final year at Naperville CUSD 203.
The projection assumes Schmidt will receive 68.6 percent of that total - $41,562 - in his first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.
After three years of retirement, Schmidt will have already received $128,464 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of his contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.
According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 65.7 percent of Naperville CUSD 203 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams. ISBE reported that 77.3 percent of district's graduates were deemed "college ready" last year.
