Money 05

Retired Keeneyville SD 20 employee Jana Wilde saved $39,394 toward her pension over 15 years working for public schools, Illinois Teachers' Retirement Fund (TRS) records show.

Over 35 years of retirement, Wilde would collect as much as $1.329 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes DuPage Policy Journal.

Wilde, 60, who currently lives in Carol Stream earned $60,585 in her final year at Keeneyville SD 20.

The projection assumes Wilde will receive 34 percent of that total - $20,590 - in her first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After three years of retirement, Wilde will have already received $63,640 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of her contributions to the state teachers' pension fund.

According to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), 25.2 percent of Keeneyville SD 20 students met or exceeded the standards for the "PARCC" exams.
