The Daily Herald editorial board recently endorsed Republican candidate Tonia Khouri for the 49th House District seat in the November general election.
“Thank you, Daily Herald, for your endorsement,” Khouri posted on her website. She is running against Democrat Karina Villa to replace Rep. Mike Fortner (R-West Chicago),
The Daily Herald editorial board said that the two candidates’ politics couldn’t be more different.
“Khouri, a DuPage County Board member and co-owner of a successful household services company, is smart and well-versed in Illinois issues, with passion for curbing spending, property tax reform and Illinois' pension crisis,” the newspaper stated. “She suggests an openness to collaboration in solving problems. The House can use her temperament and sense of urgency.”
Khouri has made greater fiscal responsibility and government transparency platforms of her campaign.
The 49th House District includes portions of Batavia, Elgin, Geneva, Hanover, Naperville, St. Charles, Wayne and Winfield.
