Warrenville Police Department issued the following announcement on Oct. 10.
It’s begun! The U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots program has started, and the Police Department has again volunteered to be a donation drop-off site for their local campaign. Now through noon on Friday, December 14, new unwrapped toys in their original packaging may be dropped off at the Police Department, 3S245 Warren Avenue. Donations will be accepted during regular business hours: Monday through Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., and Saturdays between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. (City holidays excluded) for children between the ages of birth and 12-years old.
The Marine Corps places special emphasis on donations for children ages nine through twelve, but all donations are welcome. If you are donating items for younger children, please make sure to avoid items that could lead to a choking hazard. Monetary donations will not be accepted at the Police Department, but they will be gladly accepted directly through the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation website at the link provided below. Donations through their website will be used to purchase toys for children in DuPage County when shortages occur. And with that same philosophy, toys collected will be distributed to DuPage County children in need.
With your continued generosity, DuPage County children in need will have an opportunity to experience the joy of Christmas! If you have questions regarding this campaign, please contact CSO Perry at 630-393-2131.
**The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve created this not-for-profit program in 1947. Learn more about it at www.toysfortots.org**
