DuPage County State Attorney Bob Berlin recently endorsed Tonia Khouri for the Illinois House of Representatives.

"Tonia Khouri is a proven leader,” Berlin said in a statement. “Her track record of integrity, honesty and transparency in government and her unwavering support for law enforcement and public safety make her uniquely qualified to represent the citizens of the 49th District in Springfield."

Khouri, who is running against Democrat Karina Villa, has served on the DuPage County Board since 2012. During that time she oversaw a voter-approved consolidation process that has saved taxpayers $110 million, according to her campaign website.

“As a DuPage County Board Member for the past six years, I'm honored to be endorsed by Bob Berlin for my unwavering support for law enforcement and public safety,” Khouri told the DuPage Policy Journal. “DuPage County is considered the safest metropolitan collar county in the country.”

Khouri has also signed a pledge refusing a legislative pension if she is elected.

The 49th district includes Aurora, Batavia, Elgin, Geneva, Naperville, St. Charles, Warrenville and West Chicago.
