Schaumburg State House candidate Michelle Mussman received another $20,996 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Aug. 15 and Sept. 6, state filings show.

The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Friends of Michelle Mussman, the campaign committee that supports Mussman’s race against Republican Jillian Bernas in the 56th district.

The district covers all or part of Palatine, Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, Roselle and Hanover Park.

Madigan’s contributions to Mussman came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $733,871 to the candidate’s campaign.

From Aug. 15 to Sept. 6, Madigan spent $2.67 million backing campaigns for 31 candidates. He's spent more than $100,000 on 12 candidates and more than $40,000 on 18.
