Wheaton State House candidate Kathleen V. Carrier received another $105,877 from Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chief Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) between Aug. 15 and Sept. 6, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by Citizens for Kathleen V. Carrier, the campaign committee that supports Carrier’s race against Republican Amy L. Grant in the 42nd district.
The district covers all or part of Carol Stream, Winfield, West Chicago, Warrenville, Wheaton, Naperville and Lisle.
Madigan’s contributions to Carrier came from the campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois. In all, Madigan has contributed $240,517 to the candidate’s campaign.
From Aug. 15 to Sept. 6, Madigan spent $2.67 million backing campaigns for 31 candidates. He's spent more than $100,000 on 12 candidates and more than $40,000 on 18.
