Illinois House Speaker and Democrat Party Chairman Michael J. Madigan (D-Chicago) has reported $71,911 in July contributions to Kathleen Carrier, a Democrat running for the Illinois State House of Representatives against Amy Grant in retiring GOP Rep. Jeanne Ives' district.

The total reflects payments made through July 22.

Payments in support of the campaign included one totaling $27,000 on July 9 for polling. Two more, for $24,001 on July 13 and $20,910 on July 19, were to a printer in Philadelphia, as reported by the Illinois Democratic Party to the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE).

The contributions bring Madigan's all time total support of Carrier to $75,851.

Carrier raised $3,939 in the second quarter from non-Madigan contributors, according to her June 30 ISBE filing
