Oak Brook Park District issued the following announcement on July 13.
Oak Brook Park District Board to Discuss Referendum to Issue $16.9 Million in General Obligation Bonds
The Oak Brook Park District Park District Board of Park Commissioners will vote whether or not to place a referendum resolution on the November ballot during the Regular Meeting scheduled for Monday, July 16. The resolution would propose the issuance of $16,900,000 in general obligation park bonds to fund the purchase of the 34-acre McDonald’s Autumn Oaks property at Jorie Boulevard and Kensington Road.
“There is not a lot of open land left in Oak Brook, and we have an opportunity to acquire property and maintain open space,” said Park Board President, Sharon Knitter. “It’s our responsibility to pose the question, but ultimately, it will be up to the residents to decide if they want to make that investment.”
The Oak Brook Park District’s Regular Meeting of the Board of Park Commissioners will be held on Monday, July 16 at 6:30pm at the Canterberry Room in the Family Recreation Center, 1450 Forest Gate Road in Oak Brook. The public is welcome and those wishing to speak under “Open Forum” are asked to sign in prior to the meeting. The meeting agenda may be found at https://www.obparks.org/park-board-commissioners.
