Warrenville FPD responds to 42 fires in 2017

Warrenville Fire Protection District responded to 345 calls in 2017 - 7.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Warrenville included 42 fires - 26 structure fires, three vehicle fires and 13 other fires.

In all, the department saw $550,625 in fire loss - or about $13,110 per fire.

The department also received 303 false calls, including 27 malicious calls and 276 other false calls.

The calls resulted in 11 civilian fire-related injuries. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents and one was injured in non fire-related incidents.

The Warrenville Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $3,834,615 in 2017.

The Warrenville FPD Firefighters Pension Fund, which has nine active employees and six retired or inactive employees, was $191,967 in debt as of April 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $5,485 for every fire in 2016.
