Naperville Park District issued the following announcement on June 18.
A draft of the 2018 Master Plan may be viewed on the Naperville Park District’s website at https://www.napervilleparks.org/about/plansandsurveys/masterplan through July 2. Residents may send comments to Planner Aileen McEldowney at amceldowney@napervilleparks.org during this time.
Since the early years following its formation in 1966, the Naperville Park District has been guided by a comprehensive Master Plan that is updated regularly. Each Master Plan is a living document that spans five to ten years. In 2017 District staff began reviewing the 2012 Master Plan, incorporating feedback from the 2017 Community Interest and Opinion Survey, with the goal of completing the update in 2018. A public open house to discuss elements of the proposed 2018 update was held Thursday, March 8.
At its May 24 meeting, the Naperville Park District Board of Commissioners discussed the most recent draft of the 2018 Master Plan, which is now ready for public comment and review.
As with previous versions of the Master Plan, the 2018 update is based on the mission, vision and core values of the Naperville Park District, its organizational plans, community surveys, demographic studies of the Naperville area, including the most recent U.S. Census data estimates, and national standards for park and recreation facilities.
Following the public review period, Park District staff will consider feedback and make changes to the plan if necessary. Staff then will bring the 2018 Master Plan to the board for approval in July 2018.
