Nybo bill to adjust audit periods for political committees clears Senate

Springfield capitol bldg

Sen. Chris Nybo (R-Elmhurst) wants to make sure Illinois political committees are ready for the November general election.

Nybo presented SB2223, a measure to amend the election code with respect to audits of political committees so that the audit period is consistent with the disclosure reporting period, during Senate debate April 11.

“Having been through one of these randomly selected audits myself, I just think it is an easier, cleaner way for both the board and the committee that is responding to the audit to have it conducted,” Nybo said.

Though Nybo said he was happy to answer any questions on his legislation, none of his peers asked and SB2232 was passed unanimously at 52-0.
