Jay Kinzler views the most recent State Board of Elections campaign disclosure filing for state Rep. Deb Conroy (D-Villa Park) that shows the entire $21,500 she raised last quarter coming from contributors outside her district as proof of the constituents she truly aims to serve.
“You’ve seen from past filings that she gets a lot of outside money from political action and special interest groups, which is typical of how career politicians operate,” Kinzler told the DuPage Policy Journal. “Career politicians, they develop relationships with industry and labor groups ... people that want to be able to benefit from government. It’s why we need term limits so badly in this country.”
Kinzler, who is challenging Conroy in the 46th House District in November’s general election, said his opponent’s method of governing is not what the country’s forefathers had in mind when they created the government, and that voters from the district should be concerned about it.
“I see families struggling every day. They need someone to be concerned about their interests. That’s the reason property taxes are so high, all these special interest groups always lobbying for more taxes that come with no reforms.”
In the past, Kinzler has gone as far as to compare the way Springfield now operates to a dictatorship. He added he thinks voters should be particularly concerned that so many of Conroy’s contributions come from operatives with close ties to longtime House Speaker Mike Madigan (D-Chicago).
“She gets a lot of money from individuals tied to Madigan, and that’s how he works,” Kinzler added. “He’s the longest running speaker of the House in the country and it’s not because of his charisma, policies or results.”
The 46th District includes all or part of Glendale Heights, Carol Stream and Villa Park.
