Stella wins 11th Congressional District GOP Primary

Congress

Nick Stella won the recent primary election to become the Republican nominee for the 11th Congressional District.

With all precincts reporting, Stella had 22,269 votes, and his challenger Connor Vlakancic had 5,819 votes.

Stella will now run against incumbent Democrat Bill Foster in the general election. Foster is currently in his third term.

Stella, a cardiologist from Darien, narrowly lost a primary bid against Foster in 2016.

Among the issues Stella supports is providing a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children.

“Of course that would go against many people in the Republican Party,” Stella said in a recent Daily Herald article. “But you know what? We need to look at this isn't a political football. These are real people and real lives.”

The 11th District covers parts of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall and Will counties
