Khouri gains backing from three conservative groups

Tonia khouri

DuPage County Board Member Tonia Khouri has been endorsed by three conservative groups in her bid to be the Republican nominee in the 49th House District.

Khouri is seeking to replace Rep. Mike Fortner (R-West Chicago), who is retiring, and has been given the nod of approval by the Illinois Citizens For Life (ICL), Illinois Family Action PAC (IFA) and Illinois Family PAC Federal.

Khouri is the only candidate in the 49th District to be endorsed by the top three conservative groups.

"It is especially important that the 49th House seat have a pro-life legislator representing the district,” ICL said in a release.

The group is active in providing information on how to contact Illinois legislators on abortion legislation, as well as offering information on political candidates like Khouri who are well versed in life issues.

ICL also endorses state and federal meetings with legislators as well as providing financial and administrative support for Illinois only anti-abortion lobbyist.

“She will serve well in that position and we endorse Tonia Khouri for state representative," ICL said in the release.

IFA has also vowed support for the House hopeful from Aurora.

“We endorse Tonia Khouri, a pro-family conservative that is interested in cutting taxes and reducing spending,” IFA said in a release.

The nonprofit group and legislative action arm of the Illinois Family Institute, founded in 2010, is a grassroots lobby group that promotes common good and general welfare through education and public policy.

“This primary election is critical for the direction of life, marriage, and family issues in Illinois. We endorse Tonia Khouri for state representative in the 49th District," IFA said in the release.
