Community Services Update - Mary Keating Gina Strafford-Ahmed, Administrator for Information and Referral in Community Services, announced the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) meeting will be on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. Ms. Strafford-Ahmed will send out a reminder to all committee members.
Diana Uchiyama, Administrator for Psychological Services in Community Services, stated the merger of Psychological Services and the DuPage County Health Department is moving forward and the resolution will be presented to the committee for approval in November.
12. DuPage Care Center Update - Janelle Chadwick
Anita Rajagopal, Assistant Administrator for the DuPage Care Center (DCC), stated that the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulation is requiring a reduction of re- admission/rehospitalization of patients from the skilled nursing facilities into the hospitals. The DuPage Care Center is exploring advanced nurse practitioner practices to provide support with managing the high acuity residents within the Care Center. The Care Center is also working with Central DuPage Hospital (CDH) to support this mandate by putting into place education regarding best practices provided by Central DuPage Hospital
The DuPage Care Center is working to contract with the few new Managed Care Organizations (MCOs) that Medicaid awarded new contracts for 2018.

Member Chaplin inquired about the discussion at the October 3, 2017 HHS Committee meeting to send a formal request to the legislative committee in opposition of the Federal bill H.R.367, also known as the Hearing Protection Act of 2017. Chairman Larsen replied that the H.R.367 bill was pulled in Congress.

FM-P-0405-17 Recommendation for the approval of a contract purchase order to Knight E/A, Inc., to provide on-call Professional Architectural and Engineering Services, as needed, for Facilities Management and for Community Services, under the FY18 Weatherization Program Grants, and for Design Services for Animal Care & Control, for the period October 25, 2017 through November 30, 2020, for a total contract amount not to exceed $366,890.00, Professional Services (Architects, Engineers & Land Surveyors) per 50 ILCS 510/0.01 et. seq. (Facilities Management portion is $250,000.00, Weatherization’s portion is $18,000.00 and Animal Care & Control’s portion is $98,890.00)
Chairman Larsen stated the contract purchase order for Knight E/A was approved in Public Works and is for HHS informational purposes only. Member Chaplin noted that although she supports the program, she does not support Knight E/A, Inc.
B. Grant Proposal Notifications -- Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Energy Assistance HHS Grant #18-224028 - United States Department of Health and Human Services through the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (ILDCEO ) - $1,398,103.00
