Lombard wants to make sure nothing scary happens on Halloween

Halloween 1001677 1280

With Halloween drawing near, Lombard Village Police Chief Roy Newton is reminding residents to stay safe during the holiday, according to a press release.

Newton gives residents a list of tips for a safe Halloween, including making sure that your costume is fireproof, making sure your child can see and breathe while wearing a mask, and if your children are trick or treating after dark, making sure they have a flashlight.

The press release also suggests ways for adults to make the night safe for all, including making sure the path to your doorway is well lit, knowing the route your children will be taking and who will be going with them, and accompanying younger children.

"If anything unusual occurs or you suspect candy tampering, the Lombard Police, 911, should be called immediately," Newton said.

The entire list of tips is at www.villageoflombard.com/halloween.
