Darien-Woodridge FPD responds to 124 fires in 2016

Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District responded to 485 calls in 2016, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The calls in Darien-Woodridge included 124 fires - 77 structure fires, 14 vehicle fires and 27 other fires. The fire department also responded to six calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $518,600 in fire loss - or about $4,182 per fire.

The department also received 361 false calls, including five malicious calls and 356 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in non fire-related incidents.
