The calls in Elmhurst included 98 fires - 50 structure fires, 19 vehicle fires and 27 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $249,301 in fire loss - or about $2,544 per fire.
The department also received 730 false calls, including five malicious calls and 725 other false calls.
The Elmhurst Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has 44 active employees and 42 retired or inactive employees, was $2,085,422 in debt as of December 2015, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $21,280 for every fire in 2016.
