Rep. David Olsen (R-Downers Grove) sees some silver linings in the dark clouds that have been lingering over Springfield, according to a recent video release.
In the video, Olsen points to Senate bills 3 and 8, both recently signed into law by Gov. Bruce Rauner. SB8 is a procurement reform bill that Olsen says will allow state universities, agencies and institutions -- and therefore taxpayers -- save money.
“We also had SB3, which was a bill that talked about government consolidation,” Olsen said in his video. “While we still have a ways to go on government consolidation, this allowed us to go forward and implement a process that’s been used in DuPage County and other places around the state to allow property taxpayers to save money.”

Olsen encouraged his constituents to look beyond frustration and cynicism and welcome successes like SB3 and SB8.
“We’re really excited about those two pieces of legislation,” Olsen said. “Obviously there’s so much more to do in this state, but those are small steps that your state representatives, your state legislature, and your governor are taking, working together to solve problems for the people of Illinois.”
