State Rep. Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale) marked Memorial Day with a message of thanks and remembrance for America’s fallen service members.
“On this Memorial Day, we pause to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedoms across the generations,” Bellock posted on her website. “May God Bless our fallen soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines and Coast Guard personnel as well as those they left behind; grieving families and a grateful nation.”
Bellock shared “In Flanders Fields,” a poem Canadian Lt. Col. John McCrae wrote in World War I. He penned the poem as a tribute to a friend who died in battle. Bellock said it is one of her favorites.
“With deepest respect and appreciation to our veterans, military families and the loved ones of those who gave their lives in service to our country,” Bellock wrote.
